76 cb550F - 16" rear wheel?

I just got a 76 CB550F that is in need of a bit of work.  I was going over a few things yesterday and realized that its got a 16" rear wheel.  Everything I have read says that wheel should be 18".  Anyone heard of this?  Did the PO replace the rear wheel?  Thanks!

Standard is 18 but 16 is a common mod..why? I've no idea.

Just trying to figure out what the PO did to this bike.  Im not a fan of the 16" rear wheel, I would love to have both front and rear 18" wheels.

it is 19, what i mean is, i love the look of matching 18's and would eventually like to change out both.

Yeah, my 75 550k has a 16 as well.  No idea why people do this (but it's pretty common) and I'm looking into going back to an 18 as I need a new rear tire soon anyway.

same "problem" for me as well, been trying to find a sucker that wants to trade me a stock 18 for my 16

Well, the guy i bought it from made some questionable "mods" to the bike, so Im really not surprised.  This years goal, get it running perfectly.  Next summers goal, full on cafe racer.  I guess I will just have to buy a whole new set of wheels, aww shucks  ;D
