Topic: Ignition Modules on a 1980 CB650C

 Hello...I tried to find an answer to this in previous topics, but I just can't find it. My question is about the ignition modules under the seat. They have this black stuff that seems to be melting off a little. In fact, there is evidence of this under them on the frame. Is that some kind of insulator? If it all melts away, do they go bad?

I have the same oozing mass on my 650 bits. I await some knowledgable input.

I have seen this on a couple parts bikes.  My runners dont have any melting.   Havent the foggiest.

This oozing black #$%*e, should it be hard when it's cold, mine has been off the bike for 6 months ?

My bike is the same year, same black #$%*e.

Ya know, it almost looks sprayed on?  Looks gooey, but in the 50 times I've had the blasted seat off, it aint been gooey.
