Do you have a stock cable to compare the inner cable length and the cable outer sheath length?

If the cable is right then the adjustment at the bottom of the clutch cover is wrong.  Or, your clutch pack stack is wrong.

Looks like the wrong cable. Looks like there is far too much length, both inner and outer cables.

Did you rebuild the clutch? It may not be assembled properly.

i havent really messed with the whole clutch since i got the bike.

the weird magnetic pin thing and all that jazz

here are some videos

http://youtu.be/1nS9-rROeb4

after looking into it i put the bike in first gear moved the tire and it was in gear then tried to pull that clutch lever up so it would engage into neutral and no bueno

I think you need to use the long link in the address bar to embed.

In your second vid. You need to force that lever up with something before the clutch disengages. There looks to be too much travel.

From the video" "I haven't read the manual....". Why not?

The manual shows how to adjust the clutch. Re-attach the cable and loosen the lock-nut on the BOTTOM of the clutch cover. Adjust the threaded rod until the two dots line up.
BTW, you probably won't be able to move that lever by hand and engage/dis-engage the clutch. You need the leverage that the lever and cable provides. Those springs are pretty strong.

One other thing: When the cover was off, did you actuate the lever by hand? There is a spring and an arm or lifter in there that presses on the clutch pushrod (probably what you're referring to as "the weird magnetic pin thing "). If that spring gets behind the lifter arm, the mechanism won't work properly. Kinda hard to describe....
You must have the cable hooked up to adjust the clutch on the side cover. Try setting the adjustment nuts on the cable in the middle of thei range, read the procedure in the manual and try again.
