As everyone else has said, congratulations.  Very nicely done.

It is nice when all that perseverance pays off.

The bolts kit came in with 2 long bolts. One goes in on the right side of the cover, and it goes in just fine. The other one goes to the top of the cover by the clutch lever, but it won't go all the way in. Could it be that old screw broke off with the tip stuck inside?

I put the new long bolt next to the hole to compare against the hole and seems like the length is fine.

7 of the original screws were missing, including the 2 long ones, from the bike so I couldn't compare.

I recently ran into this same issue on my '74 550. The 75mm bolt (cut down fr 80mm) next to the clutch lifter was way too long. Then I realized why as I was disassembling a donor motor last week. There is another version of the clutch case (I believe my donor is a '75) that has an extended hole, sort of tunnel similar to that found at 80mm 3 o'clock position.

yes, found that out in similar way.  i pulled out the new bolts that i got and compare the two long bolts.  one of them apparently longer than the other, so i switch the the bolts on the two holes and they went right in.   8)
