oil leak between 2 and 3 cylinder
« on: April 30, 2012, 05:39:10 AM »
Started the CB750 up to check timing last night and it started leaking alot of oil out of the head fins between cylinders 2 and 3. Could this be a head gasket or something worse? It only has about 100 miles on it since an 836 Wiseco kit and Webcam. Thanks.

If it's above the cylinder block to cylinder head line, it's possible that it's just a bad puck under the cam supports.  You don't need to pull the head to replace these.  I recommend using the 1194 3-bond on the pucks; it works great.

Hi SOHC Digger,
Yeah, you know I was just thinking about those rubber pucks. The leak is kind of hard to locate but the oil is coming from the head fins between 2 and 3. I didn't put any kind of sealer on those pucks when I assembled the engine. I need to work on the carbs and repaint the pipes anyway so at that point I'm about halfway from pulling the engine. Kind of a hassle but I need to have a look. Thanks for the help. Steve
