Sad news for anyone that has a bit petrol in their veins.  He died here in Dallas at Baylor hospital.

RIP Carroll. What a man.
Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators.
We haven't met yet.

A true legend in the auto world. I always wanted a Shelby Mustang GT500.

I had read a book about him many moons ago when I was in HS, he no doubt lived a colorful life. An Uncle of mine owned a '70 GT500 convertible at the time and I remember going to a Mustang show with him. There was a bunch of GT350's, GT500's a 427 Cobra and a genuine GT40. I was a young teen at the time and I thought I was surrounded by the absolute coolest cars on the planet.

+1  Man, i wouldn't know as much about performance Fords if it wasn't for Mr Shelby, spent a lot of time in my youth reading about his work and exploits, especially his involvement with the original GT40's and the early Cobra's. Rip Carroll Shelby  :'(

Huge Loss to the Automotive AND Racing World, for sure!  :(

While MY Shelby isn't a Cobra or a Mustang and not even considered by alot of folks, I think I will hang onto my Shelby Charger, just For The Memories!  ;)
