What is a safe rpm range for extended highway cruising?

theyll happily buzz at 5-6 grand,check your oil more often on extended higher speed riding,a little more oil use is normal at sustained revving.

My 550 gets hammered on motorways, rarely dropping below 80mph. No idea what the revs are as I don't have a cable, too distracting.  :)
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Unless yout redlining the entire ride, you're pretty safe. Just get up to speed and stick it in 5th,

I once rode from Italy through Germany (Autobahn) home in one day. That was 1000km and I maintained 7000 rpm (140 km/h) where ever I could. After long stretches at high speeds engine would feel like reborn. It's not rpm that matters so much, it's piston speed and that is relatively low on the 500/550s.
