Seat Identification

A neighbor who rides bikes just gave me a 750 seat. The story was that his brother had a 750 back in the day and got one of the king/queen seats put on. The brother wanted to throw the seat out, but my neighbor decided to keep it. It's a little dirty, but looks basically brand new otherwise. Missing the hardware.

Is this a 750 seat and if so, what year?

Looks like a K model 750 seat from around 73-76.

The stuff that makes vinyl pliable and soft will out gas over the years regardless of storage conditions.  Outside in the sun is worse.  Your seat may look good but will crack rapidly in use.  You do have a nice pan and foam it seems.  As far as fitment, there were about a million subtle variations over the years, others may know each one, so it is definately a fit and see situation.

Actually, the biggest problem is that I was looking to put this on a rollling '78? frame (can't remember- it's almost 5am) and I have no mounting hardware...yet. Or maybe see if someone here might need it.

yeah that's a 73-76K seat (or whenever the switched from the hook lock to the plunger lock). In super nice shape too. won't fit a 78 frame as the mounts are on the other side on a 78.

take a damp cloth and wipe the dust off, then get some leather and vinyl cleaner and conditioner. I would condition it about 2-3 times just to make sure it is still supple.

my 1975 seat was stored really well and is still soft, pliable, and not a crack in sight so not every single one goes bad. but I do condition it twice a year at least to keep it nice. been doing it for over 10 years and the seat still looks brand new.

Never Armor All on a seat, it will make it slick. Interested in it if you want to sell or trade.

Yeah, I put this on that 78 or whatever frame and it didn't look like it would fit where the mounting hardware would go. It is in very nice condition. No rust on the pan, paint is still glossy. He must have taken it off when it was almost brand new.

Just kidding about the armor all :)

I'll think about selling it, but I also forsee some more CB750s in my future...well, after I get these current projects finished :)
