CB550 broken pilot jet
« on: June 18, 2012, 02:00:30 PM »
I've been lurking this site since I started my first bike project a few weeks ago and it has given me tons of information!
Now I'm stuck with a problem I couldn't find the answer too so here's my first post.

I'm in the progress of rebuilding the carbs on my cb550 ('76 069A carbs). When I was screwing in the pilot jet on carb #3 the thing broke off and the panic started.
I tried every way I could think of to remove the remaining bit but the brass is to brittle and kept breaking of deeper.

Now carb #1 and 2 use the left hole for the pilot jets and carb #3 and 4 the right one.
Is there any way I can use the left hole on carb #3 for my pilot jet?

Hi If you are very careful and patient you should be able to drill that jet out of there without damaging the threads start with small drill bit and work up till you can pick it out  ;), cheers Mick.
