Grab bar fitment
« on: June 18, 2012, 02:18:38 pm »
Hey fellas,

Got a fitment question, will a grab bar from either a '75 or '78 CB750F fit on my CB750 K7?  I bought mine w/out one plus I want the grab bars w/ the tail light mount already on it like the ones I see from the '75/'78 CB750F... at least that's what a few ebay sellers have on their description.  TIA

It depends on what year your 750K is. I have a bare 77 750K frame in my garage and the grab bar from a 77 750F would be a direct bolt on. However the bike that I actually put the F grab bar on is a 73 750K that has the gas tank and seat from a 77 750F and in order to make the 77F grab bar work on my 73K frame I had to extend the frame tabs about 3 inches so the rear grab bar mounting bolts (the ones right above the rear turn signal stems) would have something to mount to. I simply took some 3/16" thick flat bar 1 1/4" wide and about 3" long and welded them onto the ends of the frame tabs with new holes drilled.

I'm also assuming you're using the F seat as well because I'm not sure how it would look with a K seat

Doh!  ??? I didn't spot your signature that said you had a K8. In that case it should fit however I'm not sure how it would look with a K seat

New glasses required. He has a K7.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Doh again, it was "bollingballs" signature I spotted not the OP but the F grab bar on the K7 should be a bolt on as well however I have a grab bar from both a 77K and 77F and although the mounting points are the same, the overall length isn't which is why how well it looks will depend on what seat he uses. Another thing to remember is that the tail light on the F mounts onto the back of the F grab bar itself where the K tail light mounts to the rear fender.
