Well....I'm stuck! Wiring help
« on: June 30, 2012, 06:58:09 PM »
I'm in the process of changing my left controls on my 76' 750F from stock to one from a 94' FZR 600.  Got the Headlight, horn and hi/low beam working fine.  However, I am lost on getting the blinkers to work.  I have reviewed both schematics but can't figure out how in the world to get the circuit to work.  The new blinker switch only has 3 wires and trying to deal with the winker switch and the additional connections from the stock set up has got me stumped.  I know many have done this type of mods with modern switches.  Any help?
Thanks to all,
Chris

More info on the switch wires and a picture would be great info to have. If there are 3 wires on the new switch for the blinker circuit I would guess one is for ground and the other 2 are power. One for lt and one for rt.

Your OEM one disconnects the running light(s) when the blinker is turned on. The new one doesn't do that.

No ground in there. The new signal switch needs a wire from the flasher (basically this is +12 that will flash with a load) and the power wires to the signal lamps. Like HM said the OEM switch is more complicated. It gets +12 power and flashing +12, the front marker lights get power when not signaling from the +12 - when you signal, that side's marker light gets cut off and the signal light gets flashing +12 power.
Either lose the markers or connect them to headlight power, just connecting them to the low beam headlight wire would work OK. The signal should still be quite visible.

No the common one is the pulsed 12+ from the flasher unit, the other two are the 12+ pulsed to the left and right indicators.
