Shops in North or Northwest Chicago?
« on: July 02, 2012, 10:48:38 AM »
Hey guys... Are there any shops that you would recommend in north Chicago or the NW burbs? I need a few minor things done like carbs adjusted and new brake lines. Normally I would tackle this stuff myself, but, work will be keeping me super busy till September. TIA

I would highly recommend Rob Ghislain with Dinosour Four... he specializes in vintage hondas and sohc4 bikes, and his rates are very fair. He charges $49 an hour (flat rate by the job, not by the actual hour) and  and a $40 travel fee from Lombard (if i remember correctly ) to my parents' house (also in Palatine). Him and his apprentice went through and vacuum synced my carbs, set my timing, fixed some electrical issues, and solved my effed-up bike problem which was beyond my ability level. They let my dad and i watch and we learned a thing or two. Very respectful guys. My only complaint is he advanced my timing too much, and I had to back it up, but it was a long day. I think in the end, after the travel fee, labor, plus some parts, my bill was only a little over $200.
His email is raycamel@comcast.net , or I can get you his number if you messgae me. Let him know I recommended him, because I'll probably have some more work done by him in the future. Good luck with your bike!
