Newbie in Mizzip
« on: July 26, 2012, 07:11:57 AM »
Hey I'm Stephen (aka FlyBoy) from Gulfport Mississippi USA. I'm new to the forum and to the CB world. I just bought a 1977 CB550F that already has a few mods to it but need some work before I'm happy with it. We have an event down here every year called Cruisin the Coast. It is a showcase for vintage muscle/classic cars, rat rods, and everything in between. It is in October every year and i would like for my ride to be completely finished before CtC next year. I have already encountered a few...um....lets call them challenges instead of problems....that I'm not sure how to fix. I'm not very mechanically inclined (maybe a 5 on a scale of 1-10), but i can do anything if told how to do. I follow instructions well. Mechanical stuff is my weakness. I am a crack shot a electrical (considering i am an aircraft electrical technician) so that's no problem. This is my first project bike so i need all the help and input i can gather from you fine folks.

New paint scheme. I'm in the army and its too "theme-ish" for me. I'm not sure what i want to go with. Maybe a black with red combo. Powder coat the engine black and chrome everything else. I'm open to any and all suggestions for paint schemes, as i tend to be a more inside the box thinker. Most of the changes are mechanical. My clutch is extremely hard to grip and the throttle is very unresponsive. Also it idles at 3000 rpms and i dont know why. It also seems to be burning the gas very rich so gotta adjust the carbs I'm assuming. new rims also. Maybe a spring style front end, but I'm not sure if that is OK in the Honda world.
