CB400F Clutch Cable & Bolt Help
« on: July 30, 2012, 11:23:28 AM »
Hi Guys,

Just picked up a 77 CB400F in nice shape.  Mostly well sorted except for the clutch cable.  Someone put the wrong one on at some point. (way too long and not threaded into the case)

Does anyone have a new or used cable and the 10x44 adjustment bolt that threads into the case?  I have the same issue as this person:

Replacement cables are available but not the hollow bolt.  I may have to put lower handlebars on it to accommodate the 75-76 clutch cable but I was planning on that anyway.  I think the same bolt was used on the CB200.

Cheers, Jeremy

I had the exact same problem with my 400 a couple of months ago, the only place I could find who sells the part that bolts into the crankcase was Phil Denton Engineering in the UK. It's made of stainless and is not cheap but its the only place I could find it back then.

I also got this part from Phil Denton. From memory it wasn't that dear, considering that I couldn't find one anywhere else.  Phil also makes a lot of other bits for our bikes that are pretty rare now.

Thanks guys.  I'll try Phil if I can't find a used one kicking around.
