I've never seen one without the fairing, but is the first one a RC164?  Looks like the engine is just hanging there like the frame tube is cut away. Wild! More pics ;D

is one of those the drysdale V8?, and the other looks like a CR600... or a CR750 with a CBR600 motor in it....peace

Yes, the blue one is a Drysdale though it has been heavily modified by the owner. I ported 2 FZR 600 heads for a future engine for the bike. Close on the Honda but it isn't a 600.

sorry had a closer look at the honda... is that a cbr 250 motor, just had a look at the size of the barrells, they are very short.... its not big enough to be one of the 900cc motors.... peace

The spindly forks,four pipe exhaust, drum brakes front and rear, and 20 grand tach got me thinking about that old 250 racer I had read about.  The engine, well.....er....it looks modern and I know for certain it is not a CB750F3  :D

Sigh...guess I'll have to wait 'til ya spill it,Mike ;D

I e-mailed Ian a couple of years ago. The original V-8's were Yamaha based, either FZR400 or FZR600 which with new cranks (shorter stroke) gave either 750 or 1000. Price in USA is around $35,000, cheap for total exclusivity (but waaaayyy outside my price range). I havnt checked web site for a whilke but He did have a completely new motor on the drawing board.

That one has FZR600 parts in it. It took my friend years to get it from Ian so no matter what the price it doesn't just "show up" in a couple of months. While it is a cool exercise the bike was very rough around the edges and my buddy has spent about 2 years making better parts and improving it. Basically it was an expensive kit bike. Everything on it now is Ti or CNC'd or heavily modified IE radiator(s) etc. It's an interesting bike and you're right about exclusivity PJ ,(I believe it is the only one in North and South America) , I'd want something a lot more complete and finished.

Ya see boys, that's Aussie ingenuity for you, you make a product, sell it for mega-bucks to rich Americans, then get them to finish it off before they can show their mates, their mates see it and say "Holy Crap, that looks peachy" and buy more!

Why waste your time and spend huge sums tooling up when you can get someone else to do it for you? Ha ha, only kidding, I've ever only seen the FZR400 based bike at a show many years ago and while Ian is a real "mad scientist" and is continually inventing new things to sit the tradional engineers on their asses, but the bike didn't excite too many of us over here, I always thought the frame was spindly, and it's only a tiny bike?

At the same time that brilliant New Zealander John Britten was building the worlds sexiest V twin racer, that was technically light years ahead of Ians stuff, and much better engineered. Compare the two and you'll see what I mean! Sadly britten died way too young (cancer) before his dream could be totally realised. cheers, Terry. ;D  http://www.nzedge.com/heroes/britten.html

Right on that Terry. People look at that Drysdale and what do they know???? They think it came that way. My friend who owns the bike actually did a lot of CNC for Ian and bartered for the bike. The bike is pretty large and though the frame does look "spindly" the engine is a stressed member. Lastly...Ian is no John Britten. No doubt about that sir. ;)

As a side there is an oil cooler on the Drysdale that is above and just behind the right footpeg (visible in the second pic). That was previously on my FJ1200 for about 12 years.  ;D
