CB750 bobber build
« on: August 04, 2012, 01:59:09 PM »
I am starting my CB750 bobber build and I am waiting for the frame.
I did not want to cut up a stock frame. I will sell my stock frame.

So the first step to accomplish when I get the frame is to get the seat in the correct place and the foot rests in the best spot. It will be a spring mounted seat.

After that all I will need to do is make the oil tank mounts battery mount and brake lever pivot mount. That's all LOl..lol

I have made at least 5 spring mounted seats in the past and have experimented with springs and covering etc.,

I DO NOT  use "potato chip style seat pans" They are not comfortable and most of them are too small and have no lower back support.  ( I can use capital letters on this post because it is my post),

The first photo shows how I start my seat. I use a Ford 9N tractor seat called the flip over style seat pan. You can buy it for $42. plus shipping. You do not need to pay the $85+ some sellers are asking.

After it is cut I tack weld on a 1/4 round solid bar to make the seat easy to cover if you want to cover it. The back of the seat is 12 inches wide.
You can see the Pizza seat holes and where I cut . The holes are like pepperonis.LOl..lol

Then I add on a front piece to cover the hinge.
This seat has a compound curve unlike the potato chip style seats often seen on Ebay and other websites.
The hump on the front of the seat pan keeps the rider from sliding forward.
These seat pans were designed for the tractor driver to spend many hours working and they got the design anatomically right.

This seat is VERY comfortable. The Pizza seat.
