Rebuild Shopping List
« on: August 23, 2012, 07:09:18 PM »
So I am rebuilding the motor over the winter. My motor is a 78K model engine.

I want to start a shopping list now.

I will need:

A gasket set:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/74-78-CB750-ENGINE-GASKET-SET-CB750F-CB750K-/190665078502?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c648636e6&vxp=mtr

A honer?

Beer:

What else should I shop for? What are good things to do if I am likly going to split the case anyways. Does a "complete gasket set really come "complete?"

Thanks guys. I will be starting a thread for the frankenstein rebuild :)

I would not split the cases unless you have a good reason to do so.  I would do an upper end job.  Because you are already doing 90% of the work to replace the head gasket, I would pull the jug and hone it and install rings at the same time.  only adds about $60 to you rebuild and makes sure your engine is good and fresh when you put it back together.  Of course the added expanse is for the rings.
