Thanks for that ;).
I'll send that No off to arp .
They requested the dimensions, a drawing  and pics of the bolts .
They've passed it on to someone in their factory .
I'm just waiting to see what they come back with .

No joy off arp regarding spec of rod bolts . They have no record of ever supplying them to RC .
I was hoping that there may have been an "oldie " still working there who could remember back then . I suppose we are talking 1970s speed equiptment here  ::),Anyway I've ordered a pair of arp stock rod bolts for the 289/302 Ford motor off e bay, if they fit fine, if not I'll have to do something else .
I picked up the second of the packages off Medyo Bastas (off here) today .
The first one containing the RC Engineering big valve head arrived weeks ago (but for some unknown reason) UPS   kept hold of the second package containing the BHP Mag ,Weber carbs/manifold  for weeks before releasing it through to customs  >:(.
Everything is ready,  engine chains have been soaking in oil for the last couple of weeks,  the gaskets and"o"rings I'll need are all there , but until I sort out the rod bolt issue everything is on hold at the moment .
I've included a couple of pics of the stuff that I picked up off Medyo .

Greg is that broken bolt off the rods you got from billy? Those bolts came with those rods from rc

Hi . Yes the broken bolt came off the rods that I got off Bill Benton .
I think that I've exhausted all the avenues open to me at arp .The guys there where very helpfull but they couldn't find anyone in their factory (including design engineers ) who had any recollection of which bolts I needed.
I reckon that I have a few serious options open to me now.
Firstly. The arp bolts which I've ordered work out .
Secondly . I'm able to pick up a replacement rod bolt off someone .
Thirdly . I purchase a modern set of steel rods .
 Personally I reckon that the third option is the most likely solution .

this should help.. if i recall correct..and i usually do...i believe that RC reamed the rods to fit them bolts..
 nice Mallory unit and Webers... I can remember when I first came on here and Webers were Heavy and undesireable, and folks on here sold me a couple pairs cheap....  one of them guys since bought Webers again at todays prices,,go figure...
 think I got my first ones in 77 or so...

Cheers Frank  ;), Sorry for the late response .
I'm sure you're right about the bolts , just waiting (they said that they would be here by the 14th) which is today ::) .
If the bolts that I've ordered are right when they arrive,  I'm thinking of just substituting the stock nuts for the 12 pointers which came with the rods (thats assuming that they haven't altered the thread dimensions).
Hopefully they will come before my Christmas break ,and that'll give me a nice little job to do building up the bottom end and getting the pistons and block on over Christmas  .

If when you find a correct bolt are you only replacing 2?? IMO you should do all 8 while you're at it.

Just checked on delivery of bolts and it's looking like early Jan  .
So any plans about building up the motor over the Christmas break  are out the widow. :(
Regarding changing all the bolts Jerry  . I didn't really see the point of buying the equivalent of two motors worth of rod bolts( they're sold in complete sets or in pairs) when I've only got one sheared off bolt .
I thought that it would be prudent to replace the other rod bolt of the pair as it had been partially torqued up ,where as the other bolts hadn't .

Just a quick update re" rod bolts ".
A pair of the stock Ford 289/302 rod bolts arrived a couple of days ago. :)
They are spot on dimensionally apart from the diameter ,which is too small . :(
I've ordered a pair of ARP SB Ford 302 Sportsmans SVO 3/8" rod bolts ,which should be here early Jan ,and should fit the bill nicely . ::)
To anyone who reads my posts on here , Merry Christmas and a happy new year  ;). Greg "H".
P.S If the 3/8th bolts work out I may consider buying a full set and replacing the ones which came with rods Jerry  ;) ;) .

I only noticed the 3/8th bolts after I'd ordered the stock ones  ::).

Greg, if you find 'the solution' to these rod bolts I'd bet that other members would gladly take the other 8. if you get a set of 16.

Hi .
I was recently offered the right money for everything sohc 750 which I had.
So reluctantly decided to sell .
I just want to thank the guys who have been following my build thread over the years .
Although it has cost me an arm and a leg in shipping/duties to get as far as I did with my build, I've really enjoyed the whole experience of researching and then buying Hi Po stuff off some of you guys, ( some who sadly are no longer with us now) .So thanks for that  ;)
The guy who bought everything is a Brit from London and is a right sohc 750 nut , so everything has gone to a good home . 8)
However I still have a few irons in the fire so to speak .
So onwards and upwards  :) :).

damn, sorry to hear, but happy for you at the same time!  does this mean you are leaving, or are your irons sohc related?
