CB400 Four battery
« on: September 11, 2012, 11:21:40 AM »
Just bought a new battery for my 400 four.I go to the shop man in shop fills up with acid.I say " How long do I need to charge battery for when I get home" Man replies " You don`t! maybe perhaps ten minutes just to top the battery up" I replies "Unusual normally when I buy a new battery I have to put it on  a slow charge for a few hours until its shows "ready" on the charge" Man says "No this battery comes with the cells precharged. It doesn`t need charging."  He goes off fills it with acid ,comes back " Just measured your battery it`s pushing out a 13.something (Amp?) charge". when I get home I immediately hook battery onto charger "Ready" light goes out as soon as battery connected.Remains out ,only a slight glimmer of illumination after ten minutes.I leave on for a bit longer.Nothing! Slightly better illumination of "ready " light when switching from trickle charge to fast charge! Advice please.Should i I carry on charging? Another 39 quid down the drain :(

That is the first I ahve heard of a battery that comes precharged without the acid in it.  Last one I bought they put it on the charger for an hour befor ethey would let me have it.

Sounds amazing but I don't believe it.

All of the batteries I've bought lately have been charged like that.  Just dump the acid in.  I think if you read the instrucitons (if any came with it), it will direct you to put it on a charger though.

Just had another look at it! Re connected the charger. The "ready" light when illuminated is very dim when on a trickle charge. When switched to fast charge ready light becomes much brighter.
