1974 CB750 project.
« on: September 08, 2012, 09:32:57 pm »
Hey there  everybody. I just purchased this 1974 CB750 for $250 from a co-worker.

I'm hoping to turn it into a cafe/brat style bike. I don't have the patience for cleaning and polishing like a lot of you seem to so its probably not going to be the prettiest thing ever made. My Intention is to do all I can to preserve the integrity of all original equipment on the bike so as to have the option of putting it back to original if I ever feel the need to.

Here are some bikes that I like and will be using as inspiration for my project.

When I got the bike home I did a really quick clean of the carbs, poured some gas in and tried her out.

It works! Obviously needs some tuning but I'm thrilled that it started so easily. The valve cover was leaking pretty badly so at this point the engine has been removed and I am trying to decide what all I should do while I have it out. Part of me wants to tear it apart and part of me wants to throw it back together cause it was working. Decisions decisions...

Last night my buddy decided to tinker with a rear fender design.

Not bad for a piece of cardboard and some tape.

More to come as I get into it.
