Hooray for genuine Honda cables!
« on: September 09, 2012, 08:53:51 AM »
I've had okay luck with aftermarket cables.....some work OK, some are crap.

I just replaced a VERY stiff throttle cable on my '78 550K with a genuine Honda cable and WHOA!...night and day difference!

Same thing with a stretched clutch cable.

For me, it's worth the extra money. Period.

+1...only use the OEM cables mainly because of what I heard on this board regarding the aftermarket stuff. Never have to 2nd quess it with the Honda brand back on the bike. It has been my experience you get what you pay for, but some guys are fine with the aftermarket. If it works for them that is great. My personal preference is the OEM.

Stock cables only come in stock lengths, unless your parts guy is saavy.  But, yes they are definitely worth the extra few bucks when they will work for the application.

I've used MotionPro with a degree of success. I never trusted them as far as I'd liike, but I've also never had one fail on me.
