Given that average price of Canadian beer is apparently $3.20 per 500 ml and the US price is apparently $1.80, I'm just going to assume that it's because our beer is sooo much better.   ;D

Also, the alternative is too depressing to consider.

I assume those are the average pint prices at a pub? If so, the 1.80 US average sounds really low.  Here in St. Louis you might find a happy hour deal for $1 PBR pints or buck and a half bud but a typical pint is closer to $3.  $5 for a pint of Guiness or some good local beer.
