CB750 K1 Mirrors 1 or 2?
« on: November 08, 2012, 10:45:34 AM »
Did the 750 K1 come standard with just the left mirror and the right mirror an option or did the bike come with both mirrors? I was told by a restorer that only the left mirror was standard. Thanks in advance.

Bought a K1 in the spring of 1971.  Came with both mirrors.   I remember every CB750 sitting on the show room floor had
2 mirrors.  Actually all the Honda street bikes came with 2 mirrors standard.

Far as I know they came with 2.They do have two mounting holes. One interesting thing on the K1 though is they only came with one grab handle on the left to facilitate putting it up on the center stand.

The early mirrors had an acorn nut on the back where the clamp attached to the stem. That made them reversable so there is only one part number. It fits both sides depending on how you turn it. Maybe that's the confusion. One part number, two required.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

one grab handle seems pretty standard to me. You can only be on one side of the bike at a time, and the center stand only has 1 foothold tab. The later wraparound was more of an 'oh #$%*' grab for squeamish passengers.

There was a point in time when the right mirror was sold as an option.  Do not know when that changed,  I worked in dealerships all through the 70s and early 80s...Larry

My K1 came with two mirrors in 1971.  In fact my 90, CB160, CB350 and CB450 all came with two mirrors.

Harry, it may even have been the latter part of the 60s, memory of that time period is a bit hazy to say the least-nothing to do with drugs and alcohol though...Larry

Larry,

The 90 through 750K1 were purchased in the 68 through 71 timeframe.  If I remember correctly that was the beginning of my alcohol phase.  It always seemed better when you underage  ;)
