Topic: Is this an exhaust gasket ?

I needed to order some exhaust gaskets for my cb550 and found a set of these in my gasket set I have for the bike.  They don't look like the kind I pulled out or the ones I bought for my cb350.  They are light weight and some what soft.  Just thought I would ask before ordering a different set.  Thanks

If there is 4 and they don't go anywhere else, they are or were meant to be exhaust gaskets. I've seen them for 750s in several different styles. Solid copper. Copper/cloth sandwich. Steel/cloth sandwich.

Could be the same for you.

I vote yes The stock one is round like tubing. I have seen ones like yours. Where did you find them?

The ones I saw were flat before use and green. What makes you thank they are used the color? Just asking

They came out of a new Athena gasket set that came with the bike.  After looking at them I now see that they are not a solid part but a fan shaped coil...must allow the part to crush when tightened.  At first I thought the marks on the side were tool marks but they are the different layers of the coil.  Thanks for the replies.  It looks like I just saved a little money...this project has been great so far.  Thanks again.

Generally they look like this when new.
After they're used they are flat. From the that photo they kind of look like they're already been flattened.
However, there are other designs that look flat when new.

Those look like the ones I removed from the head.  These are new never used right out of the box and if you would cut them the cross section would look like my less then great artwork with the flat upper and lower sides going against the head and exhaust.
