Not me. There are a lot of old CBs around here. Most of the (it seems) live up on the Hill. There's even a "biker gang" of people who like vintage -- the Cretins. I don't know much about them

Whoever it was is probably wondering why the hell I was staring at them so hard as I was walking by them. They were at the light and I was in the crosswalk. They had a tinted visor so I couldn't see a face. Anyway, I was just trying to listen to the bike to compare it to mine :) I just got mine running recently and wanted to see what another sounded like.

Unfortunately there was too much background noise and I couldn't hear jack.

No worries. He's probably used to people staring at his bike!

You can listen to mine at idle, but I'm not sure if it sounds like it's supposed to. It's a '76 550 f with some kind of black aftermarket pipe and headers.

I'll take you up on that as soon as the weather stablizes a bit. I took the MSF course in the rain, but that was on a new bike, in a parking lot, with no traffic. I'm still a new rider and want a little more experience before I take on Seattle drivers in the rain.

That makes four of us in Seattle. Have any of you done the Mercer Island loop yet? It's a nice <1 hour break, minutes from downtown.

Zeph - Did you replace that head gasket yet? I've never done one but would like to help out.

I just got my CB550 running again after some oil leak\oil pressure issues, but it's not ready for a long ride yet. I just don't believe it's the most reliable bike on the streets. I want to stay close to home for a while. That way I don't have to push it too far if it breaks down.

I've also got some carb tuning issues to work out. Running lean right now.

I have been a member for four or five years now, August I took the purple CB400F to her first meeting, that was fun....except for the muffler launching like a missle on the freeway around Spokane st. on the way there. I also took her to the 2nd annual show and shine, she won a little trophy for best Japanese....... getting ready for the 11th  ;)

One more Seattle rider here, I've got a 73 CB750 that I'm giving the cafe treatment.  My buddies and I were on a ferry back from Vashon with a bunch of the VME guys yesterday, some very nice bikes.  One guy had a red Vincent White Shadow, I didn't even know such a thing existed.  Anyway, hello form Ballard.

That's why I don't get out to the VME too much... I always go home envious. September is, in my opinion, the best time to ride around these parts. Anyone know any good routes? I'm up for a ride just about any time.

Its hard to not find a good ride up in the PNW. The oyster run is coming up on September 25th, if you care to see about 20,000 bikes at once. It is a hoot.

I took the purple CB400F to the Isle of Vashon and brought home a couple of trophys from the VME concourse show. Picked up the "Best Japanese" and the "Peoples Choice" award. Very Cool!!

 Greaser 56,
I talked to a  a lot of people on the ferry and during the day. By any chance were any of them you ?

I don't think so, my buddies and I talked to the guy with the Vincent as we were about to unload from the ferry but that's about it.  We didn't realize that all of the vintage bikes were on the ferry until we returned to unload.

I have seen the vincent, it's a beauty. He brings it to the meetings (first wednesday of every month) every once in a while.

So you werent on the Island for the VME meeting, just happened to work out that way? A pleasant surprise for sure!

I have some trick bits available for your cafe' racer project.

Where's the best place in the Puget Sound region to get bolts for my bike? I need one for my timing plate and a couple for holding the engine to the frame. My bike came with an engine case guard, and the unthreaded part of the bolt is too long.  I'm in Seattle.

I'd like to get together for a ride or a meet up somewhere. However, I don't trust my bike for long distances yet. I had some carb(?) problems a while back and I almost didn't make it home. I got a new ignition and timed it so I could sync the carbs and hopefully cure the problem. I got the ignition installed and test runs have been positive so far, but I'll probably tune and sync the carbs this weekend.

Kevin, nice photo!
