Another mate of mine has a GL1200, and he can push that thing through corners.  We went for a ride to Paradise Dam a few months ago the road out to there has about 12km of sharp bends, hills and hollows.  While going around the corners his exhausts were less than 1/2" off the ground and my 650 was just sitting comfortably behind him, I could have passed him at a couple of points but I would have left him behind in the corners.  It was still impressive though to watch him push that battleship around the bends.

Yeah that's right mate, considering that they were designed for high speed cruising in supreme comfort, they wouldn't embarrass you too badly in the twisties either. Not bad for 800+ pounds of machinery, ha ha! ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Maybe it is the guy from Japan blocking you from selling to US ;)

Paypal is simple and swift, but I have paid bank to bank for many bikes I have imported from US. Just give the buyer your name, address, bank account number, bank name and address and swift code. Takes about 3-4 days from Norway to US, and the funds are on your account.

Some sellers has been reluctant to give such information, but I don't get it.....????

If you really want to see a BIG GW in some twisties watch this video. This is in the SMOKEY MOUNTAINS of NC.

deals gap on a goldwing/gl1800 by yellow wolf dragons tail

This guy lives in the area of the ride and he KNOWS how to handle that BIG HIWAY LOUNGER.

I don't want this to seem like I'm telling what to do about this sale, BUT be VERY cautious if the JAPAN buyer has offered to send a representative with a MO to pay you and pickup your M/C. This is one of the scams used and you could find out too late that the MO is stolen or BOGUS. They end up getting the M/C and you end up loosing ,because you never get the money!!! CAVEAT IMP TOR

Chuck,

That guy rides like a buddy of mine from GE in South Carolina.  He rides a Wing and goes through a couple floor boards each season... and the occasional rear fender that gets scrubbed down doing wheelies.  He's a MSF instructor too, but I hope he doesn't teach his students to try that!

Dude brought up straight cash last time he made an offer on the bike.

This bears repeating.
The MO delivered by a local representative of a foreign buyer is a popular scam.
Money Orders and cashiers checks are commonly and easily forged.
If they say they can pay with a MO they can just as easily pay in cash.

G'Day Chuck, nice vid mate, the "twisties" on the other side of Kinglake, going out to Healsville were like those in your clip, and the speeds we were travelling were similar. John, the owner of the 2012 GW usually rides his RC30 or his CB1100R through those hills, so he can throw a bike around.

The corners up to Kinglake are much tighter than those though, with speed limits in some corners as slow as 10 MPH. Most of the corners are blind, and the Armco barriers on the roads edge are regularly replaced where bikes or cars sail over the edge and drop several hundred feet, and the rock walls on the inside bear testament to those who've failed.

On the day, there were bicycle racers everywhere with their support vehicles blocking the road, was a bloody nightmare! Good thing is, the roads are too narrow for the cops to set up speed camera's, so the roads are pretty much safe to ride at whatever speeds you're comortable with. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Good video Chuck, that road reminds me of the Paradise Dam road, only throw in some sharp hills and hollows.  With sharp bends right on the crest of hills and in the bottom of the hollows to add an extra level of difficulty.  The fella on the GL1200 doesn't push it too hard, his missus cracked the sh!ts with him when he scrubbed holes in his exhaust from dragging them too much.

That video is misleading about the curves and crowning of the road. The location is called Deal Gap in NC otherwise known as "THE TAIL of THE DRAGON" it is called that for all the unseen switchbacks after a tight sweeper in one direction. Check some of the other vids on YOUTUBE.
I think the scraping you hear is from the cameras chase bike! That GL is WELL known ,He goes by the nickname of YELLOW-WOLF. He likes to make bets with some of the sportbike crowd that think they are real HOT-SHOES in the twisties till they try to keep in sight of him, with him in the lead.

Chuck, I have seen numerous videos of the Deals Gap and it doesn't have the ups and downs like I'm talking about.  If I could lay my hands on a Go-Pro I would go for a ride up there and take a video of it.  There have been numerous squids write themselves off up there when their bike become airborne on the crest of a hill just as they are turning in, you don't have to be going all that fast for this to happen either.  Not to mention the ones that just simply exceed their talent limit.

Didn't the bike come from Japan originally? What difference does it make if it goes back home?  ???

Then I will never get to ride it. Call it jealousy.

Yeah, but it was a dead issue after the third or fourth post, the thread jack's actually kept it alive much longer than it's original content would have. ;D
