No pictures of the tank yet..it's covered in masking paper because I'm flushing/soaking it.

Man, the paint and stripes turned out better than I expected. It screams vintage and classic at the same time. You guys will have to see the tank later this weekend when I'm finished with it.

This is a better picture showing the Valley Green Metallic.

Tons better than Freedom Green Metallic, which has way too much blue in it IMO.

Hey Fenders - when I looked at the first pic I thought there were smudges on it. Then when looking at the others I figured out that that it was the reflection of the clouds!

Looks fantastic, love the color.

Thanks guys for the comments. The vintage color and the stripes matched better than expected. It's truly a '78 that has all the retro options.

Drive it to death and work on the CB450! That's undergoing a frame-off resto. Then the CB750 will undergo a frame-off.

Really nothing else to do on the CB750 except for painting the frame and rebuilding the engine in a couple years. That also includes rejetting the carbs (making sure they are stock) and putting the air box assembly back on it.

Bike runs, drives, and feels very nice. Best of all, it feels safe because I've done most everything.

Does yours start right up when cold? My K8 does now, but the starting procedure is differant than the K4. Since it has an accelarator pump, I pump it a couple times before cranking.
The K4 likes no throttle when cold cranking until it fires.

It's cold blooded like every other CB750. Gotta crank open the choke, and then just ease it off in 20 seconds. Once it starts it gets warmed up quick enough.

I haven't found that giving it throttle does any good for cold starts.

This is a misconception. My K2 is NOT cold blooded and start up with choke (10 secs) then is good to go (117 mains/40 pilot). Its all about the carbs. Had this experience with other pre-75 bikes. Perhaps the later model 750s are....

Anyway great job on the paint - looks really good! Now drive and enjoy!

Yes I believe the "cold blooded" myth came about because the pilot jets clog so easily on these bikes. After a thorough cleaning of my carbs the cold starting 100x better.

Installed a much nicer oil tank. Has the label and all.




Installed the Airbox with a K&N filter. Good riddance pods!

Bike is finished aside from a vacuum hose and a quick checkup-tuneup from the local hog shop. Time to start on the CB450...wait, I already did. Frame is off for powder-coating. Wish those guys are as active as you guys on the HondaTwins forum!

I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to have an old geezer who loves these bikes fine tune the carbs using specialized equipment, and to double check everything else. For example, I've been driving around with my front axle lose for the past 300 miles.

Those things you put in the exhaust to measure the air/fuel mixture....the knowledge to FINE tuning that I don't have...:(

I need to rebuild my front brake caliper. Trying to chase down a squeak.

The squeak may not be the caliper but the rotor and pads, a very common issue (my K4 is notorious).

Do a search for some remedies that guys have done including new pads, lube and scuffing the rotor.

It's got new pads, and I definitely lubed the back of them quite well.

It happens independent of braking, even though I think braking makes it go away.

Yeah. That's normal for these bikes.

I'm thinking my caliper needs a rebuild, though I can't find any rebuild kits for a k. Then I need to see if I need a piston to go along with it. Ugh!
