k6 air box seal?
« on: July 09, 2006, 07:47:54 PM »
I have a 76 k6 750 and in the top of the airbox where the botom meets it there is  a seal around one half of it so air is getting in somehow. My question is is there supposed to be a whole seal, gasket thing there and if so where could I get one???

Thanks

The seal should be solid, all the way around. I don't know the part number for you K6, but for the K2 (last model on my parts list), it's part number 17221-341-000 and is called "PACKING, air cleaner case." You might try one of the on-line parts fiche sites to varify your part number, or try a Honda dealer. I have no idea if it's still available. Let us know what you find. Good luck.

I have the same problem I have been flogging my SOHC -4 around with out giving the poor bloody Carbys a chance of getting the vaccume they really need to make the beast perform properly.
Thank's for the vital tip.
I'm ordering one pronto.
Dave Australia.
PS no wonder tat the two cases are hard to join properly at the butterfly screws..

There is none in Australia but there is a heap in JAPAN.
Mine is on the way A$27

I was wondering about this for my F2.  Will this really have that much of an effect on the carbs - making them run lean?  I've been chasing down an intermittent lean condition for a while now.  Perhaps this could be my problem - I know my airbox seal is pretty ratty.

Has anyone solved this issue. I cant seem to find a part, and anything be used as a substitute, some generic gasket maybe??

You can get them from Honda. Like Bob said, just go to any parts finder any order. If no cmls or David Spares, Western Hills Honda. They all have them. Replaced mine this past spring.

Hi.
I eventually received the seal I asked my gynocologist to replace it for me LOL and I cannot tell you about the difference it made . Its like having another cylinder 5cylinder honda?
I have spent some money very wisely.
PS Super glue it in also heat you four inlet trumpets in very hot ATF so as to relax the rubber. Their a real #$%* to replace other wise.In fact I also put some rubber glass weather seal around the four holes in the case so as to make the trumpets more air tight.
I am now passing 180KPH and it feels as if I need another gear.

Cheers Dave
