Thanks, mystic,
Did you ever check the left side of the steering head for the stamped frame number?  This will confirm whether the frame's VIN plate is correct.
Yes, I checked: they match. The number stamped on the VIN plate and the number engraved on the frame itself, opposite side, are the same. So I'm glad that the frame is original.

Wouldn't a Nov.72 build be a 1973 model and frame and engine would be correct for a K3?

So is the Swiss guy the place to get a replacement VIN plate, The blaster annihilated the plate the customer had taped off and I taped over, and pointed out to tape over it again. So they will be paying for a new plate. It's for a MT125. When I got the frame back from the blaster the plate looked like very thick, wrinkled up duct tape, which is what the blaster overtapes with. I went to try and peel it off and realized it was the tag itself and unrecognizable as the original plate.

Bruno at Kniesser is pretty good, both my 72 and 73 have new tags from him because my old ones were butchered by the PC shop (just the drilled holes were ripped out, plate faces were ok). They are a really good repro item, but they he doesn't stamp the vin on, just engraves it.

I removed my ViN plate last year when I had my frame PC'd by a local shop after reading the horror stories about PC workers sand blasting the ViN plates off,I forgot to remove my steering inner races though,I'm glad they are still avail.
