Back out tappets and do the rubber band trick on the 650?
« on: December 29, 2012, 12:18:33 PM »
I'm working on a 650 and need to know if I have to back out all the adjusters and use rubber bands like the 550's to get the head cover off. It doesn't say anything about it in the 650 manual I have.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks

I only back out the 3 that are sitting on a lobe..
When reassembling check again which lobe/ followers are high and double check all as you pull the cover down

If you are just removing the valve cover you do not need to remove ANY tappet adjusters.

If you are removing the cylinder head loosen all of the tappet adjusters and loosen the head nets evenly as described in your shop manual .
You do have a service manual right?
