I always liked the two stroke Yamaha Enduro models. I bought a new DT3 250 back in 1973, endless fun with that bike and found myself riding it more often than my Honda 750 K1. :o

I still have my original sales literature:

Those bigger Yamaha enduros have a very distinctive sound, a real pop pop pop kind of thing, always liked that.Being a big fan of old two strokes I am working on a big deal right now with a fellow hoarder on 8 or more bikes right now. There is a 9800 mile 1970 CB750 K0,3-1972 GT750's one lavender and one agua,a good1973 GT380,Yamaha 350,Suzuki RE5 rotary,1975 Wing,1960's CB160 and more.Think we are close but going back soon for better inspection. Forgot to take pics of all but here are a few teasers.May be an update/new thread in the future  ;)

Best race bike:
Honda's NSR500 with Mick Doohan riding
70's era Kawasaki triple with Duhamel riding
70's era Suzuki triple with either Gary Nixon or Barry Sheene riding

Best street bike: Suzuki's triple

Best two stroke failure: Bimoto's 500 v twin  (pretty, but not good on the street)

Because I only ride in the dirt by mistake, I have no idea what a good 2 stroke dirt bike should be.

Save the Two Strokes!

Being a big fan of old two strokes I am working on a big deal right now with a fellow hoarder on 8 or more bikes right now. There is a 9800 mile 1970 CB750 K0,3-1972 GT750's one lavender and one agua,a good1973 GT380,Yamaha 350,Suzuki RE5 rotary,1975 Wing,1960's CB160 and more.

Ekpent: Sounds like a great collection of bikes from days gone by, especially the unique and rarely seen Suzuki RE5 rotary. Perhaps you will be able to bring all of them home with you. I certainly hope so and look forward to seeing more photos of them.

Thanks.  I had wanted one of these since the first time I saw one at a dealer in '72. When this came along, I stopped waiting.

I agree with this one.  The Suzuki GT750 Water Buffalo is my favorite 2 stroke.  I want to buy one but I cant find one worth buying.

A 72 Suzuki T500 should be coming my way in the spring.  Good shape but sitting inside for many years.

This is my GT550 that I just bought.  It will take a lot of work to rbing this back to its former glory.  Should be worth it though.  When I start it I will post some pictures.  Today I am diging out from almost three feet of snow.  Not a good dat to work on the bike.

I dig my '86 NS400R.  Three-cylinder, two-stroke GP-inspired Honda goodness.  It's a SWEET bike.

Don't think the made an H3 triple, the 500 was an H1 and 750 is the H2. They did make an S3.  Kaw made an H3 but think it was a 650 or 750 4 stroke.   http://kawi2strokes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3886

IIRC, the S3 was a 400.

There were also S1 and S2 models of 250cc and 350cc respectively.

I thought this topic was about 2 strokes ?   ???   I don't know which is the best, are we talking street use or off road ?  For street use the hands down craziest is the Kawasaki's H-1 500cc and the H-2 750cc " WIDOW MAKER ".   :o   Some port work, larger bore, exhaust chambers and compression, the h-2 would be wicked fast.   :o 8)

2 stroke street bikes are rad. For an older bike, I think the Yamaha TZ500 is pretty cool. As for a new bike, it's hard not to love the Aprilia RS250   :D
