Petcock fuel line brass pipe came out, what now?
« on: February 17, 2013, 09:31:05 AM »
The brass "pipe" that the fuel line attaches to came out of the petcock, instead of the fuel line coming off of it.
Can this be fixed, safely and reliably?    Or do I need to replace the petcock  :(

Put it back in, applying a bit of threadlocker-red.  Tap the end gently with a mallet to firmly seat yet not distort.  No sweat.

The brass was "press fit" into metal housing originally.  Repeating that process out to restore it.  Sometimes if you gently twist it in its resting place hyou can find the position it was in before it got yanked out.  That will be the best position to press it or tap it back into place.  However, if you cannot find that position and the tube or socket has ovaled, you will need some sort of fuel resistant sealant.
