George, do not feel bad about trailering your bike, I did it last year because I wasn't carrying Godzilla.

Chris, the hell you will  >:(!!! I am riding down to Houston tomorrow.  Someone is going to ride with me to Austin.  I got Zilla with me, I can't shirk that responsibility!
Hey Ghia, Tommy is riding up,on Thursday,he wants to be fresh for Friday, hook up with him , I think he is going to lay over half way , like around Sealy, call me if you need his digits :my cell, 281-995-9322
Found this bike in completely stock condition in Feb. 08. Paid over twice what my new one cost 30 years ago. Am trying to re-create the look of the late 70's Drag Bike styling.More later. 4-2-10 It ain't stock any more and I have no idea what I am trying to create !

Thanks, I will be crashing with Chris Thursday night and riding over on Friday.  Saturday is when the real riding begins.  I am thinking of swaping the handle bars on my bike, mounting the big fairing and then swapping back to clubmans when I get to Austin.  Should only take a minute or ten to mount all that crap up.

I hear ya, Joe!  Don't worry, though, you won't be riding alone, regardless.  We should have a decent little group riding out together.

We can get some final details together Thursday night over food and drinks, maybe?

Sounds good.  Anyone hear from Justin?  I wasn't planning a trip out to Lamesa again.  LOL.  I will ride back with him part way though, so he don't get all lonely.

Saturday is when the real riding begins.

Thought you guys wanted to ride Lime Creek road on Friday?  That would be when the real riding begins!

And yes, heard from Justin today, he will be in Cen Tex late Friday night, most likely staying at a motel.
We could meet him in Marble Falls again, bet he will be at Whataburger!

I know Tom prefers to hit the campsite, unload and set camp before doing anything else.  If we get a good, early start out of Houston, we would have plenty of time to do that and still get some riding in before the sun drops.

Tom prefers to hit the campsite, crack a beer and do a shot before doing anything else.

Getting ready to roll out.  Here is my bike a few days ago in front of the stockyards.

I rode with the trunk 2 years ago when I did the 1500 mile trek.  This time, I am using to get there and to get back, and I will pull both of those big ass things off as soon as we hit Austin.   Oh, and I had to switch the bars for this trip, now I am rocking the stock bars from my old Ducati Monster.

watch for head shake with that fairing. I would definitely make sure my steering head bearings were snug. theres you're unsolicited advise.

That is one thing that worries me. I will snug everything up and if that fairing gives me any #$%*, it will find itself in a ditch!  I have no great love for the thing, but with the cold and the drizzle, I thought it would help.

Damn, it is chilly out there.  I had planned on leaving around 11, but I am almost scared to wait. Looks like it could rain on me any second.

Take you time and wait out the weather for good conditions.  Beer with your name on it is here when you get here.  I don't think we're expecting precipitation today in Houston, but the temps are supposed to drop into the 50's this afternoon and the 40's tonight.  Riding out Friday morning is going to be chilly.

Well I am out of DFW. Almost to Ennis.  Stopped for gas and to warm myself. Thought the fairing wasn't helping until I stopped and it was colder standing in the wind.

I am in Houston.  That was the most windy ride I have ever taken. There were some unexpected lane changes.  But here I am, in one piece.  Now to get some work done on the bike.

Good to hear you made it.  Forecast is looking better: sunny and 70 on Friday and Saturday is expected to be Sunny and 80...perfect.

Ok, left my book at home. Can someone look up the point gap and sparkplug gap for a 550?
