Oh, and the first thing I asked...  "Where is the piston?"  So, where is the damn thing? He seems naked without it.

"Where is the piston?"

Thought I would leave baton "bling" to someone elses inspiration this time around. If someone were so inclined, they better make it good!

Hey guys, most of the recent posts would be better on the rider's logs thread, since this team is still in the planning stage. ;)

Hey Scottly.....this is what I am suggesting to the Texas riders:

Friday May 3rd - DFW & Hou travel to Austin
Meet at Smokey J's BBQ in W. Austin (RR620 & 2222). Fuel, food, drinks.
Ride infamous Lime Creek Road to Lago Vista Camp on Lake Travis

Sat May 4th - Hill Country Ride. Route TBD.
Cinco de Mayo celebration at Maria's Mexican Cantina (Margs on me).
Camp at Lago Vista.

Sun May 5th - Cowboy Breakfast, break camp and ride home.

Suggestions welcome.

So, getting my bike ready for the long trip.  Today I rigged up a mount for the rear trunk, switched over to a stock seat for comfort, and attempted to add a bug front fairing. Problem with the fairing is that I won't fit with the clubmans.  I would have to put the stock bars on it... I ain't about to do that when I am going to be riding the twisties.  I need the clubmans.  So, wind will be in my face...

Hey Joe - when do you plan to be in the Aus area?
I plan to cut out of work early on Friday, should be home by 2pm.  Tommy has confirmed so we are in for some laughs. Waiting to hear back from Chris, but betting he's in and wants to ride Lime Creek Road on Friday.
Weather looks great for Friday and Saturday - sunny with highs of 75.

I will be riding in with Chris and Robynn. I am heading to Houston on Thursday, we are leaving to head your way as soon as possible Friday.  Do you know anything about a Stonehenge replica in the hill country?

Steve, can you find us the most winding, twisty road to that Stonehenge place?  Does it look like a good ride?  If not, we can find something else...

Did you like the ride to Fredericksburg last year? We could do that and then take Hwy 16 south to Kerrville, its a good road through the Hill Country. Only 35 miles or so past Fburg, no prob if none of us lose a tappet cover!

Google map Lago Vista to Kerrville to Medina to Vanderpoole to Lago Vista.
39 from Hunt is nice but these all make for a 400 mile day. More than I'm up for.
Next time we can camp further out in the hill country.
Stonhenge used to be at the intersection of 39 and 2025(?) in Hunt. They moved it to Ingram a couple years ago.
Don't know why.
A good overview of the area is this website.

Stev-O: Same phone but it's crapping out. I'm gonna try rooting it in the next couple days.

Robynn and I are in - counting down the days.  I have Friday off, so we're hoping our group will be ready to shove off nice and early.  Tom tells me he is in, George may join us and Anthony says he'll tag along, too.  I may be on the Duc again this year - bummer  ;)  If I'm lucky, I may have time to get my CB750 all hooked back up (with it's temporary loaner engine from one of my other bikes).  I am trying to get an idea as to whether anyone in Austin is joining, but I haven't heard back, yet.

Chris - If you really want to ride a SOHC, I can let you ride my K4 and I'll ride your Ducati!

Cycle Ranger and Pecantree from Austin have expressed interest in joining us for the Saturday ride, have not heard back from Aaron yet, he's trying to get his bike ready. George's son[s?] from Austin may join us too, so that could put us at 12+ for the ride.  I also think a 400 mile Saturday is a little ambitious, especially for you riders who are riding here and back home. If we decide to go to "Stonehenge", that would be about 250 mi or so.

Be prepared for a cold Friday night, forecast is 43. I buy a bottle of whiskey!

Hmmm . . . . I could always trailer my bike(s) to the campsite.  Then I would be able to ride fresh and be able to provide a support vehicle for the "just in case".  There's nothing glamorous about the ride from Houston to Austin.

PS - Robynn may be out, due to work.  She has four art cars to paint!

Well, hope I don't get beat up for this , but I am trailering mine, there is no way my back would take the ride . Besides where would I put the beer cooler and grill ? Actually going up tomorrow (Thurs)see some relatives and motel it then Friday head to Smokey J's . Hauling spare parts and tools if anyone needs something like a wheel or some piston rings!
Found this bike in completely stock condition in Feb. 08. Paid over twice what my new one cost 30 years ago. Am trying to re-create the look of the late 70's Drag Bike styling.More later. 4-2-10 It ain't stock any more and I have no idea what I am trying to create !

George, do not feel bad about trailering your bike, I did it last year because I wasn't carrying Godzilla.

Chris, the hell you will  >:(!!! I am riding down to Houston tomorrow.  Someone is going to ride with me to Austin.  I got Zilla with me, I can't shirk that responsibility!
