Getting ready to paint the K1, shes not a resto so her color will not be a factory shade.

To be painted: Side covers, tank, headlight bucket, and K0 airbox.

What do you think, keep her the same blue purple she is now?



(I don't have a pic of her outside or the right angle showing off the purple hue)





Or go Nissan DN1 like my 240SX?



I will be putting these stripes under the clearcoat on the tank.

I think the stripes make the difference. Unless you are from Minnesota, I like the last one. But if you are a Vikings fan the first one.

I’m a sucker for pearl paint and voted for the Nissan color.

Choose a factory original color.  If not you will spend the rest of the time you own it explaining your color choice and take a hit on resale if you ever do sell it.  Especially with original stripes.  Paint is all about statement, is it race, vintage, rat, stock, etc.  what is it your saying with a modern Nissan color?  To me it says, I work at a body shop and had this paint left over......

Not necessarily true.  I've sold a couple CB750's that were not factory colors and got asking price. Both bikes had pro quality gloss and finish and buyers didn't even ask if they were factory colors.
If your doing a 100 point restore, then it's a different story, but OP said it's not a restore.
Most buyers won't even know OEM colors....unless you're trying to sell on here.

The factory Gold color is fairly easy to match,guy around here has it down well and they really pop on these old Honda's.

For what it is worth, I think it looks pretty sharp the way it is right now with the blue / purple tank and the black sidecovers.  That nice clean stock seat looks great too!

My opinion, both colors seem dated. Like 1990's dated. The green looks great on the nissan, but I think it would look out of place on the CB750. The only "purple" I would even consider would be original boss maron. But hey, it's your bike do what makes you happy.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! If the frame hadn't been cut and I had the original engine I'd be more inclined to keep it a stock color, but she's just a fun daily rider for me.

I already have a black bike, cafe'd. This will be the next project.



And a low mileage numbers match K2 which will be the resto bike.

I did my Ninja in the nissan green from left over paint....Honestly It looked pretty gross. JMO.... I vote the other color.

Actually, I've seen this color suggested as a substitute for "Freedom Green Metalic". I've never seen an actual example of it, but it may be closer to a stock color than you think!
