75 USA 550K forks legs for 77 UK 550F?
« on: July 25, 2006, 06:24:51 AM »
Hi   I'm getting my 77 UK spec 550F back on the road and discovered one of the fork legs is very slightly bent (PO) and don't know whether this will be picked up at the MOT test. They are slightly pitted in places too. So not wanting to take a chance I wondered whether the fork legs from my 75 USA spec 550K parts bike will swap straight over. I'm assuming they will but I know there were lots of little differences between the K and F and changes over the years and possibly between UK and USA models.
The frame nos. are   550K   CB5501203934    and   550F  CB550F2107647 if it helps.
I'm a bit reluctant to start stripping bits off the K, even though I bought it as a parts bike and it does have some expensive bits missing, as I had visions of getting it going again. However one in the hand is worth two in the bush...
Thanks in advance.   Chris

Fit both legs as the damping may be different and you will be OK
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!
