Historical Plates in NYS?
« on: April 09, 2013, 10:51:19 AM »
Is there a big benefit to registering a bike with historical plates in NYS. I am headed to the DMV this week and thought I would give it a try.

I'm in NY. It will be slightly cheaper but you might get hit with restrictions on mileage. Unless you mean just using an old plate. Old plate will cost more than a reg registration kinda like custom cost

I'm from  Buffalo,  and I thought about a historical plate as well. My friend down the street has a 1961 Jag,  he got an historical plate for it. I asked if there were restrictions . He said no, in fact the cost was less. I think NY has a vintage plate too, which does have restrictions. Please let us know what you find out.

Thanks,  Bob.  Good Luck

I think it's MORE expensive than a typical, almost $60 and only last a year. Vintage you have to supply your own plate.

In TX, it's $60 for five years, I have them on three bikes.
And a Vermont plate on another! (no title)

Unless it's a daily rider, I say go for it.
