Thanks for reminding me: I got one 5 years ago and never used it. Maybe I'll try it this weekend!  :)

I ordered mine last week from Orange County Honda and they had it a few days later. The part number stamped on it is 07903-3230000.

I just went into our local Honda shop this pm to ask about the price hereabouts (BC, Canada). I was quoted $24cdn. The part number for the CB650 tool is 07908-3230000.

FWIW I adjusted the clearance on my 650 shortly after I got it in May, using the go-no-go method. I was very proud of myself when done, but it did not seem to make the top end any quieter. Anyhoo after the ride up north and back (2,000km round trip) I thought I would do a double check. It's not like this is a difficult job (and WAY easier than getting to the top end of my old VFR800) and I had an hour free.

Well, all I can say is that a '79 CB650 runs fine with the clearances adjusted to .005 and .008 thou. D'oh! I adjusted them using the thou measurement on the feelers, thinking I was measuring in mm. D'oh again! I had a good look at the cam lobes and it doesn't look like it suffered. I seldom rev over 6,000rpm, so maybe I was lucky.......

I just got the cam and cam chain installed this evening on my 81 CB650 Custom. Tomorrow its time to adjust the valves, cam chain, install cars, and see if this thing will come to life again. I've already spent 4 weeks rebuilding the engine (as well as spending a fair amount of time working on my 83 GS1100E).

Yes, they are the same. Is $7.00 US equal to $25.27 CN? If so, I know where I am going on vacation next year!

BTW, that little tool will pay for it's self the first time you use it, no skined knuckles or damaged fasteners.

Er, no. Unfortunately not. That would be about $22.40us. I guess Honda dealers up here have a bigger mark up/shipping costs/administrative costs or whatever. Still, for all that, it will be well used, so I don't mind biting the bullet.

I just tried both those Honda part numbers at MR Cycle Online...no hits...   :'(

In any case, I'd want one to fit a CB500/550...will either of those work???
...stock 1972 CB500 '500 Four' undergoing re-assembly...
...Stock 1972 CL450 'Scrambler' also being re-assembled...

It all depends on what the top of the adjusters in the carbs look like...whether they are slotted (like a flat blade screwdriver) or have some other shape (square??)

Anyone else out there know what the adjusters look like on 500/550's?
