Nice truck.  I always wonder if the Tacoma truck bed is long enough to haul our bikes.  Test drove one in '04 but ended up with Honda Element.

Found your next project Steve !!  Wonder how that would stack up to the RC three engine 750.

Hey Eric....according to your buddy, RB, there were 3 Kaw Triple Triples.
This one is most likely one built by the Lloyd Brothers in the UK named the Freight Train.

I'll have to check that out Steve, not too much in the know on that stuff but always like to learn more about those early bikes and drivers.

Quick update:  H1 motor rebuilt and back in the frame.  I did little to help, our schedules to work on the bike have conflict [damn real job gets in the way of bike work!]

I've had the bike on a couple test rides but all is not good.  Has no low end power, culprit is most likely crap carb rebuild parts - and I bought Sudco!  Need to source genuine Mikuni parts.  And to make things worse, I have a head gasket leak on #1.
Apparently, this is common on the Triples after a rebuild. WTF?!
The guys on the Triples forum have been great, I'm learning a lot.  Hondas are soooo much easier!!!

PS. I found an H2 and am negotiating the purchase...

Stev-o,
What do your spark plugs look like after the first ride ?

Stev-o,

Plugs look ok, but that is not my concern at the moment.  After stepping back to regroup, I pulled the #1 head that had a leak...

The guys on the Triples forum say this is fairly common, the oil is most likely a combo of assembly lube and possibly my injection check valves not sealing.

I've ordered a new head gasket [ NOS $8 shipped - deal!] and am waiting to hear back from a forum guy on genuine Mikuni jets, needles and seats.

I was pretty bummed the other day but after taking a step back, I'm more determined than ever.

That's a lot of oil, Steve! I wonder if the oil jacked-up the compression enough to blow past the head gasket? The #2 had massive amounts of goo in the chamber after the melt-down, IIRC? If I were you, I would ditch the auto oil system, and pre-mix the fuel, at least for now; then you KNOW how much oil the motor is getting. Speaking of oil, what are you using?

No expert but I feel like enough oil to raise the compression would foul the plug in a hurry.  I don't know anything about the Kwaka oil pump, but with Yams the pump is generally considered a safer bet than pre-mix until the engine has been modified beyond the range of the pumps adjustability...
If it works good, it looks good...

Get the combustion chamber hot enough and a 2-stroke will Diesel. :o There were a lot of problems with the early oil injection systems, so they were often abandoned. A tech would make an adjustment, and within 100 miles, the motor would either foul a plug or seize..

It is a lot of oil, that's why I freaked out!  Does seem like it could cause blow out. I did fail to retorque the heads my first test ride, so that could have implications as well.
#2 did have goo and bits of the piston on the head, the piston skirt had a big chuck missing and pretty severe scoring, may not have posted a pic of that?
I prefer to continue using the auto oil system, premix is a hassle on a bike, ya know? (Did it for years in various boats I've had).  Just read up on the check valves, there are located in the banjo bolts. Need to inspect them.  I used a name brand 2 stroke oil, don't recall the brand.

No expert here either, this thing has me scratching my head!  The bike was running like it had a fouled plug, but when checked, #1 had a nice fat spark. It nearly started on the first kick with the head off, that was a little surprising.
I stopped by 2 auto parts stores to get the NGK B9HS and neither had em, they ordered and should have em now.

When a single cylinder 2-stroke fouls a plug, it quits running. When a three cylinder fouls one plug, the other two cylinders keep the motor running, but only with 2/3rds the power. Call me jaded, but I just don't trust oil injection systems as much as mixing the fuel and oil myself. ;)

I'm w/ you.
I like that Amsoil Saber full synthetic, recommended at 100:1 which means less carbon build up and more power.I'd wait until after break-in to go full synthetic.
Those check valves can be a HUGE pain when they don't work, they slowly leak 2 stroke into you engine crankcase by gravity feed while it's sitting parked..;how difficult is it to replace them w/ OEM new ? Avail. ?

Glad you have some progress on your rebuild even if it has hiccups you are learning alot about the bike. If you are anything like me, I love learning about things that interest me. It fuels a passion for that interest and makes the experience so much richer. Even if you are having issues that are common  you have support of a good forum it sounds like and that is priceless.

So, what is an H2? Is there an H3?
Why? What attracts you to them?

The grey scheme was pretty but the new paint is even is nicer.

Just been so many things going on this winter and now the weather is making it so much more enjoyable.  I have had peripheral neuropathy really bad this winter from compression of nerves in my neck. I am hoping the warm weather will provide some relief. The snow storms were brutal but nothing comparatively speaking,  just a lot for this region. Glad they are gone.  Cut the grass today for the first-time of the year. Hopefully it will be a good year snd not filled with tornadoes t nasty weather.

Gee Steve-0, you switched to a beasts of burden pulling out the H3 abomination that GM tried to pass off as a Hummer.

Heard about some cocky new H3 poser tried to show off on a Jeep course designed to shos the off-road capabilities of their vehicles to new customers trying to show how his "superior" uber expensive 4x4 could show'em how its done. He proceeded and got stuck in the mud at the beginning of the course and buried it to the axles in the water and mug that was a easy spot any self respecting 4x4 could navigate..He couldn't get itself to move forward or backward. One of the least expensive Jeeps took a tow strap and motored over to him in the mud and hooked up and then dragged him out.of the mess he was in. This was to the roaring laughing of all the Jeep owners of course. ..

I had forgotten the H2 and its rep.I find it is interesting to understand what attracts people to various bikes. The H2 would be a nice addition as you have already determined... you have my approval...big tongue in cheek LOL

Too bad the forum's a filtered place, eh?
vintage superbike material that could satisfy any urge to go fast.
Definitely a bike to bring a smile to your face when you wanted a quick twist of the wrist.

It is a beautiful day here with a few showers expected...temps expected to reach low 70s f
Such a wonderful change from the gray cloudy skies of winter.

No, they are NLA.  It's basically a ball bearing and spring, so a good cleaning will have to do.
I have received an NOS head gasket and am waiting on genuine Mikuni brass for the carbs.

Possibly fuel injection cleaner pumped through each one.. just thought I'd mention that those are delicate so don't allow someone to force high pressure air through them, ask me how I know...  ::)
