Drive the flippin' thing man! Yes, it would be an adventure-possibly a bad one- but an adventure none the less. I just recently did just the same thing. I had my father in law drop me off in Atlanta, I made the purchase, and took off on my own (he stayed in atlanta). I was miserable in 100+ temperatures, then rain, then sun again. But I made it home about 5 hours later, and I have another story to tell.

Seriously though, sometimes there are hidden bugs, but you can usually tell a lot about a bike as soon as you see it.
