Where do I find rubber air box boots for my CB550....
« on: December 02, 2010, 06:05:40 AM »
Ive got a 1975 CB550....the rubber boots going from the stock air box to the carbs are destroyed.....Im surprised it runs as good as it does.

Apparently these are next to impossible to find....or I suck at looking, one or the other.

Anyone have a link or a line on some?

Thanks

They are part of the OEM airbox assembly and not available individually from Honda (if they even make them anymore).  I know of two aftermarket options.

Option #1: http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/CB550K1-1975-USA/part_70392/
I think these are rubber, but don't know for sure.  I need set myself but haven't gotten to the point of doing real research.

Option #2: http://www.classicmotorcyclesolution.com/1_7_Products.html
These are urethane instead of rubber.  Some people here have used them and I'm sure you can get some feedback about how they perform.

There may be other options.  If there are, I'd like to know as well.

The website says they are out of the isolators, which is the thing that goes between the carb and the intake manifold.  They may have the airbox boots.

This is moot if you've already talked to them.

Keep shopping. I found two on ebay for $8 delivered. One outside and one inside. Even came with good clamps. I got lucky cause that's all I need.

CMS is out of some parts, but they have what your looking for. I just ordered mine a couple of weeks ago. I initially had some trouble getting them on, but after a few minutes of fiddling they went on fine. And i know they are super durable because i beat the hell out of them trying to get them on and they held up really well.

Duanob, are the sides interchangeable?  Meaning, will the outside fit either outside?

+1, very happy with the intake boots I got from him for my '77 CB550K last summer.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I ordered a set of boots for my 550 from Paul.  Put my order in late last week and got them in the mail yesterday.  they look durable and are pretty well-made.
