This weekend I installed my new HM341's. I had been a bit apprehensive about removing the old down pipes (with slip-on mufflers) since they were rusted fast to the nipples, and wouldn't budge the first time I tried to remove them. So I decided to try removing the nipples with them. First a soaking with liquid wrench, followed by a little shock therapy (a few taps with a drift punch and a hammer) on the screw heads. Finally I fitted the Phillips head bit from my impact driver with a 1/4" drive socket and ratchet wrench. The gods were smiling....they came right out. Installing the new pipes wasn't quite as quick and easy as I expected, however they are on and the bike looks and sounds great.
So now I have a set of used slip-on mufflers looking for a good home. If anyone is interested (VitaminCB550 are you out there?) I can post some pictures in a day or two.
Thanks,
Dennis
