I was searching through the forum looking for rebuild ideas and tips. There's a ton of stuff out there and I'd thought I would simplify it by just asking the professionals.
I want to start with basic maintenance first. I have a 77 CB750k that needs brake work (mainly on the front), Fork seal, a new seat, new chain/sprockets, and gauges. For the most part the bike runs pretty good. I've replaced the clutch and rebuilt the carbs, but I need to address the other issues now.
Anyone have any suggestions on the following? All suggestions appreciated. I'm looking for cheap easy replacement options. More ride, less wrench.
1.) The front brake needs some major attention. I would like something super easy to just bolt on. I have a newer Magura Master Cylinder but the stock caliper. The front brake is crazy noisy and just doesn't have that much power and drags pretty bad. I don't think I want to do the work of putting in dual rotors. Any ideas on a good caliper replacement and brake lines or just replacing everything all together?
2,) Any suggestions on chain and sprocket set you like?
3.) Gauges are banged up and speedometer doesn't work. I basically would just like to have Flybox1's guages or something similar, is ebay the best for that?
4.) Headlight is pretty dim at night should I just replace the bulb or the whole unit?
5.) The seat is in pretty bad shape. I can't seem to find a replacement seat that I like the looks of. I like the stock look much more than a cafe seat and my wife rides around with me. Is re-upholstery the cheapest option?
6.) My handlebars sit up pretty high and aren't really that comfortable to ride on the freeway. I need something that sits a little lower. I also like what Flybox1 has done there but not sure what they are.
