Keihin CR carbs with K&N filters or velocity stacks and 4:1 exhaust with competition baffle will get you some extra horsepower without making engine modifications.  But then you would lose that fantastic looking exhaust you currently have!  I am running CR carbs with a Kerker 4:1 with competition baffle and the power increase over stock is very noticeable.  I can't even imagine how fast these CB750s get when engine modifications are made...

I agree with Paris on the carbs, I run CR31s With open 4 into 4  megaphones and electronic ignition.
The stock motor gives a healthy 60 rear wheel BHP.
A few weeks ago I got a set of iridium plugs from Mike Rieck and you wouldn't believe the difference, it knocked 3/4 of a second off the bikes best 1/8 mile time, can't wait to find what it dose over the quarter now. ;D

On the tuning side, Megacycle do a cam designed to work well with the Wiseco 836 pistons, they supply these plus the head gasket (check there website for prices and get in quick while the US$ is weak)

Mike Rieck dose a killer head job with 5mm stemmed oversize valves with titanium caps.
All you need then is a Variable cam sprocket, a 3M cam chain adjuster and a set of beefed studs.
I have all these and am just waiting to get the motor built. (big kwacs have started to give the old girl a tough time) ;D

Get your walet out ;D

Search 836 power for more snippets.

Good luck, Sam.

Thanks guys, now we are getting somewhere  :)

I´ve got a 4-1 system hanging from the ceiling and I´ve got my old 4-4 rusted out system. As you said, I love the look of my 4-2 but they could use some "opening up"..... ;)

Been thinking about rolling some open meggas to fit on the cut stock downpipes I´m currently running.

I´m currently running podfilters on the stock carbs.

Had a look at both Megacycles and Webcams grinds. Seems as if Webcams "softer" grind is a bit wilder than Megacycles "softie"....

Are you guys running your CR carbs on a stock head with no porting or hotter cam?

Yes, the motor is stock and a little on the tired side, just how much I don't know, as we have never had it apart.
Chris who owns the bike is into his 4th season on it.
We have a megacycle 125-65 cam in a fully flowed head, with Wiseco 10.25 to 1 836cc pistons.
The crank has been lightened and ballanced and all is waiting for the rebuild.
Sean Condon has a similar motor with a Mike Rieck head job, claims it's scary. ;D
A four into one gives a good performance at the top end, whereas the four into four gives a good averall increase.
Mikes bike makes over 90bhp and he has sent heads all over the world.
He would be able to advise you far better than myself.

PM him.

If you get different cam/exhaust/whatever, I think you could probably talk to this guy about carbs..
http://www.cyclexchange.net/index.html

I'm buying carbs from him. He likes to talk to people about their bikes before he sells them carb setups.
which carbs are you buying?
http://www.cyclexchange.net/Carb%20System%20Comp%20Page.htm
cool, ive been waiting for someone here to be the guinea pig with them, please let us know how they work out for you.

For those interested, I talked to Ken this morning on the phone.
He asks a lot of questions, frame, exhaust, engine modifications, ignition system, altitude, etc.
He also makes sure to tell you that the velocity stacks may touch frame parts or side covers of a stock bike, offers an elbow joint to straighten the stacks to underneath the seat pan, and LOTS of other information. He does't like to sell these to people whoo are just in the "bolt on and go" crowd, as a little bit of fitment is required for these. He mentions that your starter button, etc, will have to be relocated and just about everything pertinent to the installation of these.
He asks for your altitude to pre-jet the carbs for your location and engine configuration.
I'm ordering my set today.
No.
