water inside rim
« on: June 23, 2013, 06:27:37 PM »
would this make the rim not safe to use? I dont know how it got in there but there is water inside the actual rim.

haha well this is a bike I am rebuilding so never got to ride. Also is there supposed to be two bulges on the rim in the same spot? like they ballooned a little?

Makes perfect sense. So therefore it doesn't need to be reused huh

Generally a bad idea to use bent rims lol

Can see the rim is bent inward on both sides in that spot.

I have no idea what's caused that........

The welded seam sometimes give a wide or narrow spot on some rims.

If you can see it with the naked eye (I can) I would not use it.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Might just be the seam that's sticking out, look for grinding marks.  Both of my rims, one from ebay one original to the bike, had what sounded like water in the rolled lips when truing.    Can't be too uncommon, just tap everywhere with a screwdriver and make sure it's all solid.
