Replacing shock mounting studs K7
« on: July 11, 2013, 08:27:03 PM »
The rear mounting studs on my K7 are different sizes and the bushing are shot aswell. Any one ever replace these studs with bolts? Safe? Easy? And where can I find OEM bushings?

I cut the threaded portion off one and made a stepped size tubing drill guide. It fit over the stud and then got thicker where the bolt will go. I drilled through that then inserted a bolt with the head removed, welded that on the back side and it's as good as new.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Anyone have a pic of the upper mounting points with the shocks on? Mine looks to have a spacer and is not flush w the frame when mounted

the spacer is only on the drive side...maybe to clear the chain?

Turns out at some point the PO had removed the washers for some reason or another and never replaced them...and with failing bushing my right side shock had wiggled its way off the mount and onto the stud. Nice knowing it was only held on by a 3/8th" nut and pure luck.

A set of washers later all fixed...just waiting for new bushings from bike bandit.
