75 CB 550 FOUR K1 CORRECT IDLE RPM WHEN WARM

COULD ANYONE TELL ME WHAT THE CORRECT IDLE RPM SHOULD BE WHEN WARM? 1975 HONDA CB 550K1 FOUR.IM CONFUSED FOR THE MANUAL SAYS 1,000 BUT I ALWAYS THOUGHT 1,500 WAS CORRECT.THANKS MUCH

Interesting - I no longer have a tool that can measure it accurately and we can't trust the tach. I adjust the idle low enough to be stable and to allow for a good start from a stop. Shadetree stuff there. The higher the idle, the more heat that is generated. If you have lots of traffic lights ruining your ride, make it low.

1200 is the norm but mine sounds a lot better at 1300-1400 so that's where I leave the idle. I've tried to sync it down to 1000 but it still rattles a bit at low RPMs.

What Duane said, 1200 for me is the happy spot... Make sure the bike is fully warm before playing with the idle screw
