Puzzle, 35150-300-730, What is it? What's it off?
« on: August 10, 2006, 12:49:28 PM »
Hiya guys.

I recently bought a wrong part for my K2, I know what this part isn't (high low switch gear) but I don't know what it is, and what it's off. Any ideas?
The 300 part of the product code would suggest K0-K1?
So can anyone with a part number list have a look for me?

Thanks.

My list calls it SWITCH ASSY., lighting (Used in E.D.)..whatever that is, for a K1.
Used in England, Germany, France & E.D.) and is listed for these under the K2.

Hope this helps.

Cheers BOB and cheers MICK!!  Does that mean that my 1972/3 K2 SHOULD have one after all?
Also, all my wiring diagrams say that my K2 should have a "turn signal buzzer" AND THAT THERE IS A BUTTON ON THE SWITCHGEAR TO CANCEL IT.......Have you got a picture of that button on the switchgear? And absolutley last (honest) none of my books or manuels, (none at all) show where the buzzer should be mounted OR even what it looks like!!
( I do have the buzzer on my f2 mounted under the battery box out of the way, is it the same buzzer on the K2?)
magic you guys,magic.......

Sorry, can't help on that one.

Does anyone know what the "E.D." stands for?

Edit: E.D. stands for " Europian direct sales type." It seems applicable to the K1 starting with 1085582 and the K2 starting with 2006212 ser. #'s.

Amazing what you can find when you look.  ;D

Thanks Bob (again) hey, I got the clymer (thought i would mention the worst first!) I got the haines,I got mick duckworths book, I got the cb750 story book, The haines honda cb750 super-profile book, and the honda workshop manual (very early haines one) and none of them show that switch in the wiring diagrams!!! I looked and looked at the wiring diagrams in totall disbelief, after all it was much more likely to be me missing something because i had gone "wire-blind" then a whole on-off switch not being there? not so, This switch obviously switches the lights on and off, so on the k1's and k2's that dont have this, where is the on and off switch? Also, on the ones that Do have this seperate switch, that must mean the other switches on the handlebars are different? i.e.not having an on-off switch built in so to speak? so in other words at least one other handlebar switch must be different on the bikes that have this switch?
Help............

The original  On, Off, Dip, Main, (Plus a "sidelight only" position in the UK) was all on the RH switch so that when you went to dip it was easy to turn the lights off----Not always a good idea!! So the seperate On Off switch was fitted to make sure  that you always had at least dip beam (plus the rear light of course) As I remember it there are only two wires---black and brown/white if the brain cells aint totally dead-- and you just connect to the same colour wires in the headlamp shell ( Possibly having to make a connector for the brown/white).

Of course this wasnt needed after a certain year in the states cos some supersafetynerd decided that headlamps should always be on draining the battery as soon as the ignition was turned on
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Remember "Its always in the last place you look" COURSE IT IS YOU STOP LOOKIN THEN!

Thanks guys for the info and the time and trouble to load up photos, thats really clearedup that bug-bear for me!  It would explain why some folk have them and others dont as well...
I still dont get why that switch doesn't appear in the wiring diagrams!! But no matter, Now I understand why they appear on different year bikes, obviously, some folk never got on with accidently switching their lights off and retrofitted the switch, and yet others would not have liked an "extra" switch and removed it, and yet others in the USA would have praised the lord and lifted their eyes to the heavens and said "great, I CAN turn me lights off after all now!" ha ha.
That just leaves TWO more SWITCH questions......But I will ask those as a "new-thread" on the tech forum so as the issue doesnt get confused with this one!!
Thanks again guys for all your time and trouble.......magic.
