CARB KITS
« on: August 12, 2006, 04:30:45 PM »
I recently visited my oh so helpfull Honda dealer and asked if I could buy carb kits for my 400. He practically laughed in my face and offered to sell me A needle and seat for $30!!!!!!!
I then went on the internet and found a great company which supplies full kits for many bikes (mine cost $17.50 each) The kits include: 1 float bowl gasget, 1 needle valve, 1 needle jet, 1 e-clip, 1 air spring, 1 main jet, 1 slow jet, 1 o-ring, 1 idle screw and one top cover gasget. the kits are made by keyster and can be bought from www.siriusconinc.com

my local dealer informed me that all of the few parts they did have in stocks for the old bikes got sent back to the warhouse, no big loss for me anyway, if they didn't outrageously inflate the prices on the parts, I'd probably actually buy from them.
76' cb750f custom
69' cb750 sandcast
69' CT90
Amen Saviour 750 Chopper frame
and enough parts to build about 6-7 more bikes

You should check out the FAQ under "Where can I buy parts for my sohc4" before going back to the dealer.

I went through that #$%* back in the late 80's on my Kawi 1000.I had the needle/seat leak on my #1 carb and I wasn't brave enough to tear into the carbs back then. The dealer up in Redding,Ca. charged me $26 for a needle/seat combo !!!!! It fixed the problem but I always thought that was a rip-off.The best bet is to buy a complete kit for each carb and not from the dealer. I have heard mixed ratings of the Keyster kits from this forum. I bought mine from Dennis Kirk (I believe they were K&L).I had no probs with them but I used my stock needles...not the ones supplied in the kit because of an obviously different profile.

I'll add my "hurrah". I've used them several times and they have always been very courteous and efficient.
