Hello all, i have read a few post here in the past that have been helpful to me so I decided to join up and learn more from this great community of riders and wrenchers!
I am by no means a good mechanic, but I have ambition enough to tackle most projects on my own and when I have absolutely no idea where to go/begin or what to do... Well, that's why you're all here right?!
About 6 months back I hit the alternator cover of my K0 on a cement park bench when riding through a campground and my bike hasn't run since.. I had hoped a simple replacement of the case was all I needed and lack of funds put it on the back-burner for a while. My sweet gf and my good friend tried to surprise me with a new case and functioning bike around my birthday this year, but the mechanics at out local moto shop said I had bent the crankshaft due to the impact and said my engine was most likely toast and would need to be rebuilt. They suggested I part the bike out to make back what I bought it for. I however, had become very attached to this bike and for a while was convinced it was a sandcast, (but further investigation proved me wrong
) so I decided to ignore them and eventually crack the cases myself to take a look. Well, the time has come, I removed the engine from the frame this past weekend and the work will soon begin when time permits. I am looking forward to posting about the work I will be doing and including some pictures as well. I hope to gain a lot of the communities knowledge on these motors and get me back in the saddle again once the babes back in action.
Thanks for looking, see you 'round the forums...
